Scanning from photocopier demo Friday @ 11:30am
PS will give a short demo about using the photocopier to scan, saving the scans, and answering any questions this morning at 11:30. Please meet by the copier outside of room 04D. (bl, 1/28)

Course Reserves in the Catalog
I just spoke with Tom from Circulation and I guess there is a problem when searching for Reserve items in the catalog. Steve Bischof is aware of the problem and will be taking just the Reserve part of the catalog down at 4am to try and fix the issue. So if someone is looking for Course Reserves the best thing to do is to send them to the Circ/Reserves Desk to ask.

Info Desk Opening and Closing Procedures
I have added to the Ref Desk Notebook instructions for opening and closing the Information Desk. This way Reference Staff will be able to log on to the PC and get to the online tools like statistics.

Tomorrow morning the whole family is attending the adoption ceremony of granddaughter Olivia by our son-in-law Chris at the Noho courthouse. Assuming the weather cooperates, the ceremony is scheduled for 8:30 and the whole family is going out to breakfast afterwards. Should be in around 11 or so. Jim
Desk Schedule update - Tuesday, 1/18
JMD will cover 2:00-4:00 and MM will do 4:00-6:00. There will be no Reference evening coverage from 6:00-9:00. The Learning Commons and Circulation have been alerted to this change. Cheerio! MM

Despite my earlier and more optimistic view of when I'd be able to dig us out, the storm is still going on apace here and the driveway is not yet ready to meet Big Red (the snowblower) so that I only have to do the job once. I don't foresee getting things cleared away before late in the afternoon, so I'm going to have to ask those of you who were able to get in today to cover for me on my 2-4 desk shift. Or you could put a sign up on the ref desk directing people to call my home number and I can do whatever is possible to assist them from home. Jim

Ref Desk PC glitches
Still no printing from the Desk PCs, and the IE/MSN.com homepage problem persists. I've contacted SysHelp again about these issues. (bl, 1/3)
