New proxy server might cause access problems

Access to dbs from off campus might be a bit glitchy in some cases since the new proxy server was installed late last week. If you get calls from people who suddenly can't get in, Linda suggests having them restart routers, cable modems, or network servers - any place an address might be cached - because the new proxy server has a different address from the old one.

If they need help with that, they can contact dbhelp@library.umass.edu, of course.

According to Prof. Solberg, she would prefer that we not help any students in this class but rather encourage them to do their best and then report back to her. She has told them not to seek help from us, but if the past is any indicator, they may well do so just the same. JRK

Janine Solberg's class will be coming into the library from about 10/3 until perhaps 10/10 working on a scavenger hunt. David Toomey has had this class do this in past years.
