Paging of music, media, and monuments collections (bl, 6/3)

Today's LibWire notice talks about the closing of the 3rd floor MMM space for the summer. People should use the Request item to order the materials in advance, but if they need something in a hurry, going to the Circ Desk to ask for it there is the best plan. Circ staff will do their best to retrieve items as soon as possible, following their schedule of retrieval times during the day.

The Media & Music Monuments Collections, on Floor 3 of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library, is closed to the public starting today.   Public access to materials in this collection (i.e., DVDs, VHS tapes, audio CDs, and music monuments) will remain closed until the new 6th floor media & music area opens later this summer. UMass and Five College faculty, staff, and students, and UMass state borrower card holders will be able tto request items in this collection  through the "Request Item" feature in the online catalog or go to the Circulation/Reserves Desk on the Du Bois Library Lower Level. Please direct any users who have questions about accessing materials on the 3rd floor to the Circulation/Reserves Desk on the Lower Level.

Media & Music Monuments open for browsing, Oct. 26

Beginning Wednesday Oct. 26, the third floor Media and Music Monuments collections will be open to patron browsing and retrieval during the following hours:

Sunday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Friday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Saturday: 10:00-6:00

Staff or student staff members will be available on the third floor during these hours to assist patrons in locating materials and to check out any materials that patrons wish to remove from the area.

Media designated as “Use in Library Only” and Microforms that have been retrieved for patron use will be available from the Circulation and Reserve Service desk on the Lower Level.

Microphones

After speaking with Dan P and receiving two requests for Microphones, I found out that as of November, we will have, amongst many new and exciting Media items, Microphones available to users. Specifics will be clearer as of November, but it appears the 3rd Floor/RMM will circulate these items. kaw

Video camera for students to check out.

I just found out that Media Reserves has a video camera available for students to check out for 24 hour loan.

(This is for students only since faculty can always use Academic Instructional Media Services (AIMS) .)
