EZProxy will be down next Wednesday the 23rd for a short time (we hope
less than 15 minutes) beginning at 1:00 pm for an urgently needed upgrade.

All proxied resources will be unavailable regardless of the user's
location except for on-campus users who can remove the proxy prefix from
a URL.

The widget box on the public side of Meebo is not currently working with IE (at least IE 9) that we have on the desk computers.  Meebo has been contacted and we are awaiting a reply.

We couldn't receive calls at either 5-0150 or 5-0151 this morning.  I reported it to Donna Myrick, and she said that because they were working to correct our assorted phone problems, both phones were out of service.  I was able to call out on 5-0151, didn't try the other line.

I've reported the Ref Desk/office phone issues to Donna M. (line 5-0151 is not working correctly and the office voice mail may not always answer). After the upgrade to phone system this past week-end, she says there are major issues all over campus, so telecom get to ours when they can. (bl, 11/14)

UPDATE: Eref spam PJ 10/26

The spam bombarding the eref account is part of a larger spam problem OIT is experiencing.  Both OIT and Systems are trying to solve this, but it may take a while.  Aaron has made a change to our Ask a Librarian form, which requires the sender to pick a destination for a question - "Reference" is no longer the default. This will deter spam sent through the form, but junk mail sent directly to the eref account could still reach us.

Media & Music Monuments open for browsing, Oct. 26

Beginning Wednesday Oct. 26, the third floor Media and Music Monuments collections will be open to patron browsing and retrieval during the following hours:

Sunday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Friday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Saturday: 10:00-6:00

Staff or student staff members will be available on the third floor during these hours to assist patrons in locating materials and to check out any materials that patrons wish to remove from the area.

Media designated as “Use in Library Only” and Microforms that have been retrieved for patron use will be available from the Circulation and Reserve Service desk on the Lower Level.

Prof. Toomey has left a copy of an Engl379 Technical Writing treasure hunt assignment, with answers,
at the Ref. Desk.  It is under the clipboard near the fancy new stapler.  He asked that we provide minimal
help to the students, and at most guide them in a most general way toward resources.

Please be sure to alert users about our Ref Desk hours when you leave items on the Ref hold shelf. Someone came after hours this week-end to pick up an item and LC staff were unable to get it for them. I showed LC staff where the key is kept for the consult room just in case...   (bl, 10/3)
