OIT is experiencing email problems

I'm having difficulty sending email messages, and called OIT. They are having trouble with all email systems (UMail, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.), intermittently and with some outgoing addresses but not all. OIT is working to fix it, and as of 9:30am Tues. they didn't know when to expect a fix. PJ 12/11

Yellow paddle is back!

I don't know where it came from, but the yellow key paddle was back when I came in
this morning. Mon. 12/10 PJ

Missing Yellow paddle and keys

Ref Desk keys and the yellow paddle have been AWOL since Friday morning, 12/7. Presumably someone on the staff has them in their possession, and will return them ASAP but in the interim I made up a new keyring with keys to the consultation room and the Ref desk drawers. You will have to use your own key to get into the Reference Office. The temporary keyring has a blue plastic bottle opener on it, with Hakastyle.com written on it.

If someone on staff asks for a key to 1620 classroom, circulation desk now has one that can be checked-out by UCard. Please update blog if and when the yellow paddle key is found. (bwl, 12/7)

Endnote - users want to know

We've had a few users who have asked how to make a connection from Endnote to the library catalog. Apparently, the z39.50 connection within the Endnote program and the one available on the Endnote webpage still go to the old catalog location, and not to Aleph.

Mike Allard has found out the correct connection information. If users ask, give them this information -- even if you have no idea what any of it means! (You might want to also remind them that the Library supports a similar program to Endnote called RefWorks, which is available right on our home page and which does not require users to modify connection settings.)

To make the UMass to EndNote connection work, users need to modify Endnote's Connection Settings tab thus:

ALEPH OPAC usability testing is being done the week of Nov. 26th. Seeking 2 more volunteers – preferably grad students. Testing times: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons.
